The situation created within the borders of the Collective Security Treaty Organization requires the strengthening of the organization’s military potential, the CSTO Joint Staff Chief, Colonel General Andrey Serdyukov said in a briefing.
“The dynamics of developments in the world, including in the regions adjacent to the member states of the organization, the transformation of international relations and the expansion of the range of challenges and threats dictate the strengthening of the organization’s military potential,” he said.
According to Serdyukov, the CSTO joint headquarters pays great attention to the development of all components of the collective forces, implementing their structure and composition in accordance with the challenges and threats of real life.
“The destructive activities of the USA and Western countries continue to be the main source of threats to military security,” Serdyukov said.
At the same time, he noted that the military-political situation created in the CSTO zone of responsibility is “complicated”.
