On July 28, the Ministry of Transport announced the postponement of the systematic control of biometric driving licenses and vehicle registration plates scheduled for July 31, to a later date. A 3rd postponement that Minister Félix Lamah justifies by talks that his department has engaged with transport union structures, with a view to finding common ground. Carriers find the cost of changing biometric license plates and driver’s licenses exorbitant.
After several days of negotiation, a compromise was finally found between the two parties. In a joint press release published this Friday, August 4, the National Union of Guinean Transporters and the National Professional Union Federation of Transporters and General Mechanics, announce that they have signed several agreements with the Ministry of Transport.
