Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Advisor to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change of the Interim Government, said that the relevant ministry has started work to reduce the cost of Hajj to a reasonable level.

He gave this information to the reporters after the advisory council meeting at the Rashtriya Guest House Yamuna on Thursday (August 29).

Syeda Rizwana Hasan said, Hajj is a big thing for Muslims. But, I see a syndicate in this holy work too. They manipulate and increase the price of Hajj packages. The relevant ministry has started working to reduce the cost of Hajj to a reasonable level.

Regarding how much the new package of Hajj can be, he said, how much can be, how much can be reduced, there has been a discussion. There has been initial discussion on the fact that the current package is too high and it is possible to reduce it.

Last year, the then government announced two packages for public and private management. The minimum package for Haj under government management was Tk 5 lakh 79 thousand. And privately, the lowest package was about 5 lakh 90 thousand taka.

Hajj package has not been announced yet this year. Pre-registration is in progress. The final registration will start on September 1 and will continue till November 30.

Meanwhile, on August 26, a press release of the Ministry of Religion informed that 127,198 Bangladeshis will be able to perform the holy Hajj this year.
