Celebrating Victory Day in Narva will not help the city administration obtain additional funds for the repair of the Alexander Church, writes ERR.
In mid-March, the mayor of Narva, Jaan Toots, asked the Ministry of Internal Affairs to allocate 500,000 euros from the government reserve. He justified this by the fact that this year celebrations in honor of Victory Day in the War of Independence will be held in Narva, the program of events includes a festive service in the Alexander Church, for the safe holding of which the floor in the church should be repaired.
However, the Ministry of Internal Affairs told Toots that, according to the assessment of the state real estate management company (RKAS), the condition of the floor in the church is quite good and does not interfere with the conduct of the service.
Previously, the mayor of Narva asked for money to repair the church from the Finance Commission of the Riigikogu and Prime Minister Kai Kallas, then the amount was 3.5 million euros, and for this money it would be possible to reconstruct the entire cathedral.
