Demand for the Montserrat Rack Railway has recorded the best March in its history, with 24,261 passengers. This result coincides with the increase in travelers from March 23 to April 1, the dates of Easter.

During March 2024, the circulations of the Montserrat Rack Railway have set a new monthly record with 24,261 travelers. One of the factors that has been included in this record has been Holy Week. This year, the same influx of visitors has accumulated as the same period in 2019, before the pandemic. As for 2023, the results indicate that demand has increased by 18.29 percent.
The Sant Joan and Santa Cova funiculars have also experienced monthly growth. The first closed March with 11,228 users, 14.56 percent more than the previous year, while the second received 2,677 visitors, 32.79 percent higher than last year.
Sustainable mobility
The Montserrat rack railway and funiculars are public tourist transports that move completely with solar electric energy. In addition, they have several quality certificates, such as ISO 14001 environmental management, the Applus Quality Seal and the Safe Travels Seal from The World Travel Tourism Council, which accredit them as quality tourism spaces.
In addition, FGC works to make this transportation accessible to all types of travelers. In this sense, in the Sant Joan Funicular, a platform for people with reduced mobility has recently been implemented, which joins the adaptation already existing in the Montserrat Rack Railway.
