The Mossos d’Esquadra are investigating the death of a woman in Torroella de Montgrí (Girona) found this Sunday in a vehicle, they report in a statement. Around 12:00 p.m. they received notification of the discovery of the woman’s body, which had been missing since Saturday.
Unable to contact her, her relatives informed the police authorities of her disappearance. Finally, this afternoon she was located on a secondary dirt road in the area known as Gola del Ter, thanks to the location of her mobile phone.
Upon arriving in the area, the Mossos found a vehicle that, according to initial information, was not the property of the victim. The woman was sitting in the driver’s seat. The vehicle was in an area of fields with little traffic, about three kilometers from Torroella and five from the neighboring town of Pals.
The agents of the Criminal Investigation Division (AIC) of Girona investigate the circumstances of the death and try to reconstruct the last hours of life of the victim, who had lived in Torroella for years and had several children.
The victim’s body, which had several stab wounds, has been transferred to the Institute of Legal Medicine (IMLC) of Girona where forensic experts will perform an autopsy to clarify the exact cause of death and when it occurred. The Investigative Court number 3 of Bisbal d’Empordà, which is handling the case, has decreed the secrecy of the summary.
