Eyewitnesses said that a ten-foot-long mountain snake was coiling around Natarajan’s neck. The incident took place in Pannihalli village near Kaveripatnam in Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu.

Three days ago, a ten-foot-long mountain snake crawled into the farm of farmer Chinnaswamy. A python that had swallowed a lamb was near the well. The mountain snake was found while installing the motor for agricultural purposes on Monday. Chinnaswamy then ran away and informed Natarajan. At eight in the morning, Natarajan reached the place and descended into the well using a rope.

While trying to catch him and bring him out, the python suddenly wrapped around Nataraj’s legs and body. Natarajan fell into the well as the python coiled around him. Despite falling into the water, the snake was not caught. The police said Natarajan died of suffocation. As informed by Chinnasami, the fire rescue team from Krishnagiri immediately reached the spot.

Venkatachalam, station fire officer, said the 60-feet deep well had a lot of water due to the heavy rains of the past few days. With great difficulty, the fire brigade brought Nataji out at half past nine and took him to Kaveripatnam hospital, but he could not be saved. Police registered a case and started investigation. Meanwhile, the locals are in fear of not knowing where the snake has gone.
