After 5 and a half days, Mai reached the 200 billion VND mark, helping Tran Thanh continue to break Vietnam’s box office record, according to Box Office Vietnam. This achievement surpasses Tran Thanh’s two previous films: Mrs. Nu’s House (2023) exceeded 200 billion VND after seven days of release, while The Godfather (2021) reached this figure after 10 days. On February 15, Mai earned more than 28.5 billion VND with 345,819 tickets sold and 4,593 screenings per day.
Data from Box Office Vietnam shows that thanks to the resonance of Valentine’s Day (February 14), daily revenue and ticket sales of Mai in particular and other films in general increased significantly. Typically, Mai accounted for 68% of total box office revenue on February 14. The film’s daily revenue milestone reached more than 43 billion VND, with 448,245 tickets sold, 4,330 screenings, and a daily occupancy rate of 72% – something unprecedented.

The work currently holds the milestone of being a Vietnamese film with a record high one-day revenue (43 billion VND), the fastest film to reach the 200 billion VND mark at the Vietnamese box office. The film is expected to exceed the revenue of 459 billion VND of Mrs. Nu’s House.
Among the works released in theaters during the Lunar New Year, Tran Thanh’s third brainchild beat all opponents at the Vietnamese box office. Meeting the Pregnant Sister again by director Nhat Trung ranked second with revenue of more than 44 billion VND after nearly 6 days of screening. While Tra (Le Hoang) and Bright Light (Hoang Tuan Cuong) left the theater one after another.
Mai revolves around the life of a beautiful woman named Mai (played by Phuong Anh Dao) with a special fate. Working as a massage therapist, Mai often has to face scrutiny and judgment from those around her. Mai meets Duong (Tuan Tran) – a romantic flower boy, 7 years younger than her, who promises to love and protect her. Insecure about the turmoil in the past, Mai does not have the courage to accept feelings from Duong.
