The National Citizens Committee is being formed with the desire and spirit of the students’ uprising.
The official debut of this committee will take place on Sunday (September 8) at 4:30 pm at the central Shaheed Minar of Dhaka.
A notice sent to the media on Saturday (September 7) night said that Bangladesh was freed from the fascist regime in exchange for the participation of the people of all levels of the country and the sacrifice of thousands of martyrs and injured under the leadership of the anti-discrimination student movement. As the second step of this student uprising, the importance of achieving the goal of a new political structure by abolishing the fascist system was mentioned.
It says that Bangladesh needs to be restructured to realize the new political possibilities that the student uprising has created. The people of the country will be organized through a new historic agreement based on the opinions of various political and social parties in the formulation of a new democratic constitution. Keeping this objective in mind, everyone has been invited to attend the debut function of the National Citizen Committee at Central Shaheed Minar on Sunday.
Ariful Islam, a member of the Liaison Committee of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, told the media that the National Citizen Committee is being formed by carrying the desire and legacy of the student uprising. This committee will work at the level of 64 districts, 12 cities and police stations of the country and will play a role as a pressure group in the necessary reforms to abolish the fascist system.
Meanwhile, the departmental and district level tour of the anti-discrimination student movement will begin from Sunday. In this, a coordination team will participate in the exchange meeting with students in every district of the country. Their first meeting will be held in Munshiganj.
