“There is an interdepartmental group that can give an assessment of both the capacity and future problems of the newly built station. It’s a big project that requires quite a lot of research both in terms of energy capacity and location. The works are being carried out, we have carried out certain works with several organizations, including Rosatom, but works will be carried out with all the states that are building stations,” said Martirosyan, adding that it is most important for Armenia to get a modern, safe and competitive station.
Armenia is waiting for offers from Korea, China, France.
The director of the nuclear power plant said that the new plant should not be for 10 or 20 years, but for future generations, having a working resource of up to 100 years.
“As of now, it is quite difficult to predict the capacities that we will have in 30-40 years. The group is formed, I think the working group will succeed in achieving the result we expect,” said Eduard Martirosyan.
