Emmanuel Macron has reopened the debate on the summer holidays for schoolchildren, which he would like to shorten. However, this measure divides.
According to Emmanuel Macron, schoolchildren have too many vacations and too busy days: he plans to reduce the holidays. Opinions are divided : “I don’t think that’s necessarily a good solution. Holidays make the economy work a lot, people need it” assures a mother. Conversely, a man believes that “the summer holidays are far too long and children need to have more extra-curricular activities during the day“.
An early start for students in difficulty
Emmanuel Macron also wants to reclaim the month of June for students who do not take a test at the end of the school year. Last announcement, the students most in difficulty could return to school from August 20, accompanied by tutoring to catch up. Free refresher courses already exist in some establishments. Unions denounce unequal working and learning conditions between schools.
