In one of the most surprising eliminations this season, the singer who was seen by many as a finalist and a possible representative for this year’s Eurovision, was eliminated this evening (Sunday) from the competition after an extraordinary performance of “Fear of God”. Keren Pels said goodbye: “From the second you set foot here, I’ve had my eye on you. You’re a colleague, our brother, we’ll see you again in the rehearsal room and at concerts”

“I gave, I gave everything, when I didn’t have any more”: Jonathan Beaton, one of the most prominent and beloved contestants this season in “The Next Eurovision Star”, who many marked as a finalist and even as a possible representative for Eurovision, was eliminated tonight (Sunday). The singer, who brought with him to the competition the magnificent table, the talented band members and the sense of togetherness that is important these days more than ever, sang the hit “Fear of God” in an extraordinary performance – which was not enough to survive the cruel hot couch.

Beaton had to get 82% to pass Ariel Ravid and be saved from the hot couch, but the performance ended with only 62% and a panel of judges who mostly liked what they saw and heard tonight: Eden Hasson and Ran Denkar did red while Keren Pels, Shiri Maimon, Itai Levy and Assaf Amdorski did blue. Amdorski, who in an uncharacteristic move pressed the blue button seconds into the performance, explained: “I liked everything: the processing of the strings, the beat, your freedom.”

Denker explained the Red: “I really like you, you are an amazing musician in my eyes. You always do very beautiful things, but it hasn’t happened to me several times. It’s too restrained for me. Angry? Bring anger. Want to get wild? Get wild. Bring the performance This one to the edge, take it to the edge. You have it, it can be so theatrical and different. This is what would have worked in Eurovision. Feels like you can break, but it doesn’t happen.”

Eric Sinai, the last to sing tonight, achieved 66% – a total of four percentage points more than Beaton – thus dethroning him. Asi Ezer and Rotem Sela pained the elimination. Rotem admitted: “You were really my favorite in this program. This is a very big and painful loss for me.” Keren Pels revealed: “With you, unlike everyone here, I feel like a colleague. You’re a musician, you’re our brother. Keep creating and we’ll meet you in the rehearsal room and at concerts. I’m torn about your form from the first moment, now I can say that. From the second you set foot here, I had my eye on you. I loved everything you did and I wish you the best of luck.”

Beaton concluded: “Thank you very much for the opportunity to do this special and different thing on the mainstream stage. It was a great privilege for me and before each performance I said: let’s just do this performance, let us show more of this thing. I’m really happy about it. Thank you very much” .
