The Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN) seized more than 19,800 mobile communication devices in correctional institutions of the penal system in 2023, a department representative told Vedomosti. From the statistics of the Federal Penitentiary Service it follows that the number of seized mobile phones is decreasing annually: in 2022, 24,000 devices were found, and in 2021 – 48,000. In addition, 2,370 citizens were detained for transferring or attempting to transfer mobile phones to convicts, a representative of the Federal Penitentiary Service specified. .
