The parade of the international regatta “President Cup 2024” was held in Mingachevir.
According to İdman.biz, before the event dedicated to the 101st anniversary of the birth of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the participating teams were introduced to the public.
Then there was a visit to the monument to Heydar Aliyev. President of the Azerbaijan Canoeing and Rowing Federation Vugar Akhmedov, head of the executive power of the city of Mingachevir Ilham Ismailov, deputy Elman Nasirov, and team leaders laid flowers at the monument to Heydar Aliyev.
Then the parade continued with an artistic part. The athletes walked in front of the fans to the performance of a special orchestra. Later there were various dances and performances. At the end there were special drum shows.
The opening ceremony of the regatta and the first day of competition will be held on May 1 on our historical land of Sugovushan. Participants from more than 20 countries take part in the 4-day marathon – in addition to Azerbaijan, these are Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Tajikistan , Turkey, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.
It should be noted that kayak-canoe competitions will be held at the Sugovushansky Reservoir at distances of 200 and 500 meters. The regatta will continue on May 2-3 at the Mingachevir Olympic Training and Sports Center “Kur”. Here teams will compete in kayaking, canoeing and rowing.
