We need to understand the will of the citizens, whether we really should have such a Constitution or not, said CP deputy Vladimir Vardanyan, referring to the conversations about the amendment of the Constitution in a conversation with journalists.
He mentioned that the legitimacy of the Constitution cannot be questioned, because now we all act according to the Constitution. “I would like us to consider the Constitution as a living document, and at the stage of social development, there is a need to change or revise the opinion of the constitution, if there is a vote on the constitution. From this point of view, RA is neither the first nor the last to discuss not only constitutional reforms, but also the text of the new Constitution after independence. In the end, the decision-maker is not only me and you, but also the constitutionalist who will vote in favor of this or that Constitution in the referendum.”
When asked whether the provision of the Declaration of Independence will be abandoned by the new Constitution, Vardanyan stated that he is not the one to abandon it. “If the new text of the Constitution is put to a referendum, the people will decide what text will be there.”
Vardanyan mentioned that in our country, the media covers this topic more than in Azerbaijan. He emphasized that no Constitution should be adopted under pressure.
