The company Idesa, European Engineering and Design, has submitted an application to the Port Authority of Avilés (Spain) to obtain an administrative concession that allows the occupation of a plot of approximately 8,100 m². This plot is located on the right bank of the estuary, within the service area of the Asturian enclave.

Specifically, the company’s objective is to use the existing warehouse on this plot, previously used as a shipyard, for the construction and repair of sports boats. In addition, they plan to take advantage of the remaining space for the production and storage of capital goods related to the energy transition.

To this end, those responsible for the port of Avilés have decided to carry out a public information process on this request. During a period of twenty days, allegations will be received for the project, allowing the participation and contribution of the community in this process.

Idesa, founded in 1993 as a technical and commercial office, is dedicated to the design, manufacture and supply of static and modular equipment. The company has three specific business lines, focused on industrial plants, marine energy and the manufacturing of capital goods.

On the other hand, the Port of Avilés considers that the new needs and competitiveness requirements that the maritime sector is experiencing, in addition to the creation of new ships and the demands for the handling of goods, are determining reasons when implementing a new railway connection at the docks on the right bank.
