Prime Minister at today’s government session Nikol Pashinyan announced that the pre-qualification tender for the Sisian-Kajaran section of the North-South highway has been announced.
He noted that this project is of great strategic importance.
In the first stage, those organizations that can and submit bids will be invited to implement the construction of the road. the cost of the project is several hundred million dollars.
“An investment project of this scale has not been implemented in the history of Armenia’s independence, and I want to say that as a result of our recent discussions, we reformulated the North-South project and turned it into a North-South-East-West project and we hope to implement this project at a high pace. “, the Prime Minister announced.
He mentioned that one branch of the road will connect Armenia to Iran, the other to Azerbaijan-Armenia and later to Turkey-Nakhijevan-Turkey.
Pashinyan expressed hope that by the end of the year there will be a specific construction company that will carry out the work.
“We are now carrying out specific works for the construction of the Armenian section of the Yeraskh-Julfa-Ordubad-Meghri-Horadiz railway, we hope that the agreements reached will be recorded in the form of a document and the de jure process will be carried out in full swing,” the Prime Minister said.
He said the pre-qualification phase of the road will take 70 days.

According to the minister, there are more than 12 kilometers of tunnel sections, only one of which will be 8.6 km long.
