The executive president of Naturgy, Francisco Reynes, pocketed 5.47 million euros last year, according to the figures sent by the energy company to the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) late this Wednesday afternoon. These emoluments are 6.6% lower than the 5.86 million in 2022.
Reynés’ fixed salary amounted to 1.1 million euros in 2023, in line with the figures from the previous year. To that figure must be added another 54,000 euros for “other concepts”, compared to 100,000 euros in 2022, a year in which he also pocketed another 620,000 euros of long-term variable salary.
Additionally, Naturgy’s chief executive earned just over three million euros for “consolidation of long-term savings systems”, a heading in which, in addition to the energy company’s usual contributions to its pension plan, includes payments variables that are settled in the form of extra payments to their “provident system”, as read in the annual directors’ remuneration report. His remuneration was also completed with another 154,000 euros in the form of a premium for his life insurance, a figure that more than doubles the 71,000 euros in 2022.
Reynés already accumulates 16.56 million euros in his pension and welfare plan, which he will be able to redeem upon retirement. At the end of 2022 there were just over 13.36 million.
In 2023, the largest gas company and the third largest electricity company in Spain recorded a net profit of 1,986 million euros in 2023, 20.4% more than a year before and the largest in its history, in full remission of the energy crisis . The sharp drop in energy prices has a double effect on their accounts: it reduces income, but it also allows them to close negative hedges in the gas market. The debt, for its part, remained practically stable, at around 12,000 million.
