Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the four-day United Nations Climate Adaptation Conference National Adaptation Plan (NAP) Expo-2024.

The Prime Minister inaugurated the international exhibition at Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the capital on Monday (April 22).

Nap Expo is an international forum. In this forum, various countries, organizations and other relevant stakeholders interact and exchange experiences in the formulation and implementation of NAP.

The event will serve as a platform to exchange insights on climate adaptation strategies around the world and promote mutual benefits.

383 delegates from 104 countries have registered with UNFCCC to participate in NAP Expo 2024.

Besides, 550 people including representatives of different ministries, offices and organizations, climate experts, NGO representatives and volunteers will participate in this orientation meeting.

At the Expo, training will be organized to identify gaps and needs in the process of NAP formulation and implementation in developing countries.

This year’s conference will have a total of 23 stalls, where adaptation programs from different countries will be displayed.

In addition, experts will discuss transformational adaptation, financial mechanisms, adaptation activity monitoring and evaluation tools and gender responsive adaptation in 34 sessions over four days.

13 stalls have been allocated for Bangladesh to showcase climate adaptation issues. Bangladesh will showcase its innovative adaptation measures such as rainwater harvesting, solar-powered water harvesting in hilly areas, climate resilient agriculture and infrastructural developments such as cyclone shelters and road works.

The event will highlight the rich history, culture and traditions of Bangladesh.

United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Executive Secretary Simon Steel and Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury were present on the occasion.
