Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina unveiled the covers of two books written by herself. The two books were unveiled at the cabinet meeting on Wednesday (February 29).
19 speeches of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the United Nations and their English translations have been included in the book ‘Sakler Tare Sakle Amra’. Another book written by the Prime Minister, ‘Ahban’, has included her important speeches to the nation from 2009 to 2023. Prime Minister’s speech writer M Nazrul Islam has written and edited two books.
From 1996 to 2001 and from the formation of the government in 2009 to 2023, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina participated in the debate phase of the United Nations General Assembly session and gave a speech. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also spoke in Bengali, the mother tongue, in continuation of the speech of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Bengali at the United Nations General Assembly.
His speech was simultaneously translated into English and other official languages of the United Nations. The debate session of the United Nations General Assembly presents various contemporary domestic and international issues. Notable topics covered in her speech include: MDGs, SDGs, climate change, sustainable development, women’s empowerment, world peace, displaced Rohingya, migration, etc. Collection of 19 speeches delivered by the Prime Minister in the United Nations General Assembly debates and their English translations ‘Sakler Tare Sakke Amra’. Delivered speeches will be considered important documents in terms of content and presentation of content.
‘Ahban’ is a collection of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s addresses to the nation from 2009 to October 2023. Most of the speeches were given on the anniversary of the government. He gave a few speeches at various critical moments of the country.
He addressed the nation by assuring the countrymen to deal with the situation arising after the BDR uprising, the militant attack on the Holy Artisan Bakery in Gulshan and seeking cooperation. Apart from this, he also gave a few speeches wishing the countrymen on the occasion of Bengali New Year, Eid, Independence and Victory Day. In the speeches given on the occasion of the anniversary, the Prime Minister usually highlights the development achievements of the government as well as outlines the future plans.
Besides, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expected the constructive role of the opposition parties in the formation of the country. Contemporary events, development achievements, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s philosophy and thoughts in building the country and above all her role as a servant of the people came up in these speeches. The anthology will be considered as an important document in the course of time.
