Varazdat Harutyunyan, one of the lawyers of Major General Tiran Khachatryan, former Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the RA Armed Forces, wrote:
“I inform you that together with lawyer Vache Simonyan, we have taken over the protection of the interests of Lieutenant General Tiran Khachatryan.
At this stage, I consider it necessary to emphasize that the information being spread in the press that, allegedly, General Khachatryan escaped or hid from the investigation, does not correspond to reality, is a fabrication and aims to negatively affect the reputation of General Khachatryan.
General Khachatryan was with me at the time of arrest. we were going to go out together and report to the police station. The information that Tiran Khachatryan committed hooliganism while drunk is also a fabrication.
In order not to harm the preliminary investigation of the case, at this stage we will refrain from public statements regarding the details of the case, but we assure you that the investigation of the case will show that Tiran Khachatryan did not allow any hooligan act.
For now, we will limit ourselves to this statement, please do not ask us for additional comments, if necessary, we will present additional information ourselves based on the public resonance of the case.”
