At today’s session of the government, a very important issue was adopted, it is the issue of subsidizing ferry transportation, RA Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan told reporters in the government.
According to him, thanks to this, Armenia will be able to ensure the connection of the railway system and the Eurasian two-track system and make sure that Armenian products can be transported from one country to another country by two-track communication with wagons.
“We think this will significantly improve the competitiveness of Armenian industry. We still have some work to do to complete the process, but we hope that within a month we will already have regular rail transportation to and from Armenia. The timetable is planned twice a week,” said the minister.
Kerobyan mentioned that Armenia will not get a ferry. The operator appointed by “South Caucasian Railways” and “Russian Railways” will be reimbursed for the expenses incurred during regular ferry transportation.
“We will do so that any cargo that will be transported by ferry to Russia or other countries, including China, the cost of ferry transportation will be fully reimbursed by the government,” said the Minister of Economy.
He added that “South Caucasian Railways” and “Russian Railways” will make a significant reduction in tariffs so that we have significantly cheaper rail freight transportation to Russia and Eurasia.
