The meeting of the state complex examination committee of the design documents of the Kajaran-Agarak road section of the North-South road corridor investment program Program-4 was held under the chairmanship of the RA Urban Development Committee Chairman Armen Ghularyan.

The reconstruction project of the Kajaran-Agarak section of Tranche-4 with a total length of 32 km was discussed. The reconstruction works are financed by the credit funds of the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development, as well as the RA state budget.

The representatives of the designing organization presented the project and technical parameters of the road to the commission members through videos. According to that, the 32 km long road section to be reconstructed will be of the 2nd technical grade with a calculated speed of 80 km/h. The road section will include 18 bridges and 3 tunnels, the longest of which will be 7.5 km. The circuit will pass through the existing road in some parts, and a new road will be built in some parts. Heavy vehicles will have their own separate lane, which will make cargo transportation easier.

The members of the commission presented their observations on the project. The representatives of the designing organization, answering the questions, noted that there are no landslide zones in the road section to be reconstructed, and protective measures will be taken to neutralize the risk of rock falls in some sections. Particular emphasis was also placed on the compliance of the entire road section and all engineering structures with the requirements of earthquake-resistant construction norms.

At the end, through voting, the state complex examination commission gave a unanimous positive conclusion to the reconstruction project of the Kajaran-Agarak road section of Tranche-4 with a total length of 32 km, as a result of which the tender process for the acquisition of construction works of the said road section can be organized.

The Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures of the Republic of Armenia Kristine Ghalechyan and the Executive Director of the “Road Department” Foundation Gor Avetisyan were also invited to the session of the commission, who greatly supported the work of the commission with their explanations.
