The Referees Committee and Department of the Iraqi Football Federation held tests to select the best for the second session of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) referees.
A statement from the Iraq Stars League media, received by the (INA), stated that “the workshop was held to select (20-25) referees to enter an international workshop sponsored by the International Federation of Football (FIFA), which will consist of advanced courses.”
He added, “The remaining referees who were not allowed to attend these workshops will also have other workshops, especially since the Federation is determined to apply the technology in the Premier League for next season, and not just the Stars League.”
The statement confirmed: “There will be a number of courses that will be held this year in coordination with the International Federation of the Game for referees, VAR referees, residents, operators, and hall referees, the dates of which will be revealed at a later time.”
For his part, Vice Chairman of the Referees Committee, Muhammad Arab, explained the details of the test and the general benefit of this course, which includes training referees on how to use modern technology in order to improve their abilities to make accurate decisions and reduce errors, indicating that the department stands at the same distance from all referees.
Director of the Referees Department, Ali Sabah, expressed the federation’s support for holding this session, and its constant endeavor to make this elite at the forefront of their concerns, explaining the mechanism for selecting referees within the conditions and specifications that help advance the wheel of arbitration.
