The second phase of the restoration of the Corpus Christi altarpiece of Girona Cathedral it’s already underway. It will last about four months and will allow the piece to fully consolidate, showing its original colors. From the Treasure Museum of the Cathedral they assure that the results “promise to be spectacular and very lively”.
The start of this phase coincides with the fourth anniversary of the discovery of the stained glass window of Saint Martin and Saint Francis hidden for five centuries behind the altarpiece, which can now be seen restored and displayed in the Treasury’s Stained Glass Room. The discovery took place, precisely, during the first phase of the restoration of this altarpiece, dedicated to Corpus Christi, which covered it.

The restoration technicians in charge of the project are the same ones who carried out the first phase: Idoia Tantull and Laia Roca.
The scientific and technical monitoring of the action is carried out by the staff of the Furniture Restoration Center of Catalonia and the funding is supported by the Generalitat.
