Glen Powell’s new action-thriller, “The Running Man,” will arrive on streaming platforms sooner than many theatrical releases, debuting on Paramount+ on Tuesday, January 13th, 2026.
The sci-fi film, directed by Edgar Wright, known for his work on “Last Night in Soho,” “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World,” and “Baby Driver,” had a quick run in cinemas, opening on November 14th, 2025. Despite a star-studded cast and Wright’s directorial flair, the film reportedly grossed a disappointing $68-69 million worldwide against a $110 million production budget, according to The Numbers.
The film’s performance stands in stark contrast to the 1987 version starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, which earned approximately $38.1 million domestically on a $27 million budget. “The Running Man” is based on the 1982 best-selling novel of the same name by Stephen King and follows Ben, played by Powell, a blue-collar worker who enters a televised, deadly game show to secure funds for his daughter’s medical treatment.
