Russia should make efforts to attract labor migrants from the CIS countries, creating attractive conditions in the face of growing competition from other countries in this direction, said Marina Khramova, director of the Institute of Demographic Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences, in an interview with RBC.
According to him, now for the citizens of CIS countries who are looking for work abroad, China and European countries have started to look more attractive.
“The countries of the Arab world, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, have become more attractive, for example, for migrants from Central Asia,” he said.
That is why, according to the director of the Institute of Demographic Research, Russia should start attracting migrants with professional qualifications to its side.
“In particular, high salary and voluntary health insurance can be attractive conditions for future employees,” Khramova said.
In his assessment, the involvement of labor migrants has a long-term positive effect on the Russian economy in general.
