The current situation in Armenian-Russian relations is characterized by a strong emotional background, but it is important to distinguish wet from dry and not to give in to those emotions. In an interview with the Armenian public television company, Sergey Kopirkin, the Russian ambassador to the RA, said, referring to the decision of the RAH to revoke the license of the “Tospa” radio company, which rebroadcasts the broadcast of the “Sputnik Armenia” radio station, for one month and to fine 500,000 drams.
The ambassador noted that one should not pay attention to the statements and personal assessments of individual individuals.
“They should not be given too much importance, considering the relations between our peoples. It is necessary to clearly separate people’s personal opinions, which are emotional in some sense, sometimes they contain incorrect and unbalanced assessments,” he said.
The ambassador responded to the observation that it is not about one person’s unbalanced, blasphemous expressions, that direct insults are broadcast on Russian public channels, Armenia and Armenians are called traitors, enemies, etc. “When it comes to state policy, one should be guided not by the opinions of experts and journalists, but by the views presented by the country’s leadership. You will not find any example that the President of Russia, his press secretary have allowed even some incorrect and non-constructive qualifications towards the leadership of Armenia. I think we should be guided by that anyway.”
To the question whether there are anti-Russian sentiments in Armenia, Kopirkin answered: “We have good, positive relations with many people here, I have never thought and will never think that the Armenian people have anti-Russian sentiments. The Russian Federation did not accuse the Armenians of anti-Russian sentiments. We know what kind of campaign they are making against Russia.”
According to him, we should not ignore the attempts to introduce additional complications in the relations between the two countries.
