Fear of a terrorist incident in Norway: A 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of shooting at a Pride Club in Oslo earlier today (Saturday), in which two people were killed and 14 others were injured. The suspect is charged with the offenses of murder, attempted murder and terrorist acts.

The identity of the suspect of Iranian origin has not yet been released, but local police said the suspect is a radical Islamist with a history of mental illness. It is also reported that he is known to the security services.

Police further stated that they are treating the conspiracy case as an Islamic terrorist incident. Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Styria called it a “terrible and shocking attack on innocent people”.

“I saw a man come with a bag, he picked up a gun and started firing,” journalist Olab Ronberg told NRK. “I was in the outside bar when it happened. I just noticed that shots had started, and I was hit by shrapnel. There were more and more shots, so I ran into the inside bar and tried to bring as many people as possible with me,” he said.

“At first people did not understand what was happening, but then there was panic,” he added. The shooting happened near a popular gay club in central Oslo, at the weekend where the city is scheduled to host its Pride Parade, which was canceled following the disaster.

The crime scene stretched from the London pub through a nearby club and on to a nearby street where the suspect was caught a few minutes after the shooting began. The suspect was armed with two weapons during the shooting, the police said, but it was not stated which weapon it was.
