The State Revenue Committee, taking into account the partnership between the tax authority and the tax payer, has repeatedly urged those engaged in entrepreneurship in the field of show business – singers, musicians, entertainers and persons performing other similar activities – to obtain state registration, be registered with the tax authority, conscientiously self-declare their incomes and pay taxes according to the procedure established by the Tax Code.
However, until today there are people who did not respond to the committee’s call, did not declare their incomes and did not pay taxes, informs the SRC.
In such a situation, tax control measures were implemented by the departments of the State Revenue Committee. It was found that one of the representatives of the Armenian show business during the years 2017-2019, having a business income of about 384 million 600 thousand AMD, did not declare it, as a result of which he did not pay more than 21 million AMD in taxes to the RA state budget.
A criminal case was initiated regarding the case of illegal business activity with materials prepared in Department No. 10 of the Investigation and Operational Intelligence Department of the RA SRC.
The State Revenue Committee once again urges those who carry out entrepreneurial activities in the field of show business to declare their own incomes and pay taxes in accordance with the procedure and deadlines set by the Tax Code.
Interview Title: Navigating the Future: The Intersection of Technology and Society
Participants:
- Host: Emma Carter, Editor of Time.news
- Expert: Dr. James Liu, Futurist and Technology Ethicist
Emma Carter: Welcome to Time.news, where we delve deep into the pressing issues of our time. Today, we’re thrilled to have Dr. James Liu with us, an esteemed futurist and technology ethicist. Dr. Liu, thank you for joining us!
Dr. James Liu: Thank you, Emma! It’s a pleasure to be here.
Emma Carter: Let’s dive right in. The rapid pace of technological advancement is both exciting and daunting. What do you see as the biggest challenge we’re facing in integrating technology into our everyday lives?
Dr. James Liu: That’s a great question. I believe one of the biggest challenges is ensuring that technology serves everyone equally. As we innovate, we must guard against the digital divide—where access to technology becomes a privilege rather than a right. This can exacerbate existing inequalities.
Emma Carter: Absolutely, and we’ve seen examples of that during the pandemic, where access to remote learning was a major issue. With technologies like AI becoming more prevalent, what ethical considerations should we keep in mind?
Dr. James Liu: The ethics of AI are multifaceted. First and foremost, we must consider bias. AI systems can unintentionally perpetuate existing biases if they’re trained on flawed data. Moreover, we need to ask who is held accountable when these systems fail. Establishing clear guidelines and accountability structures is essential.
Emma Carter: That leads us to the topic of regulation. Many people advocate for stricter regulations on tech companies. What’s your stance on that?
Dr. James Liu: I believe in a balanced approach. Stricter regulations could help protect consumers and encourage ethical practices, but they must also be flexible enough to foster innovation. The key is collaboration between technologists, ethicists, and policymakers to create guidelines that both safeguard public interest and encourage growth.
Emma Carter: Collaboration sounds critical. Shifting gears a bit—how do you envision the future of work in light of these technological advancements?
Dr. James Liu: The future of work will undoubtedly transform. Remote work is just the beginning. Automation will take over repetitive tasks, allowing humans to focus on creativity and problem-solving. However, this requires a shift in skill sets. Education systems will need to evolve to prepare individuals for these new roles.
Emma Carter: So, upskilling and lifelong learning become paramount. What role do you see businesses playing in this transition?
Dr. James Liu: Businesses have a crucial responsibility here. They must invest in their workforce’s development and create a culture of learning. Moreover, they should actively promote diversity and inclusion, as diverse teams tend to drive innovation and better reflect society.
Emma Carter: Wise words. Now, looking ahead, what excites you most about the future?
Dr. James Liu: What excites me is the potential for technology to address some of the world’s most pressing challenges—climate change, healthcare accessibility, and education inequality, just to name a few. If harnessed correctly, technology could catalyze significant positive change.
Emma Carter: That’s a hopeful perspective, Dr. Liu. Before we wrap up, if you could give one piece of advice to our audience regarding technology and its societal impact, what would it be?
Dr. James Liu: Stay informed and engaged. Understand the technologies that shape your life, advocate for ethical practices, and participate in conversations about how we can create a fair and just digital future. Your voice matters.
Emma Carter: Thank you, Dr. Liu, for sharing your insights with us today. It’s clear that while challenges lie ahead, there are also great opportunities for progress if we navigate this landscape thoughtfully.
Dr. James Liu: Thank you, Emma! It’s been a pleasure discussing these vital topicswith you.
Emma Carter: And thank you to our audience for tuning in. Until next time, stay curious and engaged!
