Imagine a single, spherical, 100% electric vehicle capable of pairing up with its clones to tow one, two or three other identical ‘mobility cells’. The result is LINK, a car sharing solution accessible to all (including wheelchairs) and able to transform for use as public transport in a fraction of a second. The challenge? Due to its small size, LINK reduces congestion for individual vehicles in city centers as well as their energy consumption. The ambition? Offer urban mobility for everyone, creating links between people.

This is the winning project of Movin’On Challenge Design -created by Michelin in 2017, Movin’On, the world’s leading ecosystem for strategic anticipation and collaborative innovation for sustainable mobility– developed by spanish Luis Muñozwhose theme for this 2023 edition focused on the three pillars of sustainable development: People, Planet and Economic Results (People, Planet, Profit).

«Design is a key element in the transformation of mobility. The Movin’On ecosystem focuses on developing solutions to mobility challenges that are safe, efficient, accessible and respectful of the environment. By designing solutions that enhance the end-user experience, we can improve the lives of the world’s citizens through mobility,” said Movin’On Design Challenge President, Kimbrelly Kegler.

Second prize went to Shaurya Singh for her BIO CORRIDORS concept. This project proposes to restructure city centers and their habitable areas around the notion of ‘respect for living beings’. Specifically, this means more space for the mobility of pedestrians and bicycles, as well as for plants and animals. It is an ambitious project that takes advantage of the best assets of nature and whose greatest challenge is to make our city centers more breathable, more harmonious and, above all, greener. Biodiversity and people living together in a preserved environment.

Finally, the third project on the podium is a solution to decongest the roads and free cities from trucks and their pollution. The idea? Using the metro to develop a platform for the autonomous distribution of supplies in the city through an intelligent modular container.

Of course, tied for third position, a multimodal transport cabin project that promises to transport goods and people both by land, by air or by sea. The challenge? Alleviate infrastructure problems in rural areas and offer autonomous mobility for goods and people, using a platform of intelligent services.
