The distance to the star was less than 147.1 million kilometers, about 2 percent less than the average distance to the star, designated as an “astronomical unit.”
Contrary to popular belief, in the cold season in the Northern Hemisphere the Earth is closer to the Sun than in the warm season. For this reason, in the Northern Hemisphere, astronomical autumn and winter collectively last five days less than spring and autumn – the Earth passes through a portion of its orbit closer to the Sun, which is why it moves somewhat faster.
