The 31-year-old man suspected of being the author of theNottingham attack Tuesday which left three dead, stabbed, and three injured, was presented on Saturday before a judge and placed in detention. Identified the day before by the police as Valdo Calocane, he appeared before the judge of the tribunal of Nottingham as Adam Mendes, confirmed his date of birth and being of no fixed abode. During this first hearing, he was not asked whether or not to recognize the charges against him.

On Friday, the police charged this former student from the University of Nottingham for triple murder and three attempted murders, with no charges indicating a terrorist motive. Two 19-year-old students, Barnaby Webber and Grace O’Malley-Kumar, along with 65-year-old school worker, Ian Coates, were stabbed to death in the attack which happened early Tuesday morning and had resulted in the closure of the city center for long hours.

Three other people were injured, knocked down by a van located shortly after a little over a kilometer and aboard which the suspect had been arrested by the police. The attack has aroused great emotion and thousands of people have gathered at vigils and tributes in honor of the victims in Nottingham in recent days.
