According to Radiožurnál, the Czech Tennis Association (ČTS) will probably not have enough money to return part of the subsidy in the amount of 29.7 million crowns, which it used contrary to the stated purpose.

He has 30 days to pay the amount, the deadline expires in mid-April. Due to machinations with subsidies, the union also lost the support of its general partner, billionaire Tomáš Chrenko’s company Agel.

“It is logical that the company Agel has suspended its general partnership in response to current events and is monitoring the direction in which Czech tennis will develop. If there are positive changes, it will be happy to continue supporting Czech tennis,” Chrenk’s media representative Karel Tejkal told Radiožurnál .

Tejkal rejected the possibility that Chrenek would help the tennis association with the return of almost 30 million to the National Sports Agency (NSA).

“Speculation and information that he personally, or one of his companies, should pay the National Sports Agency the obligation of the Czech Tennis Association made Tomáš Chrenko laugh,” he declared.

An unnamed member of the CTS management told Radiožurnál that the union currently has 2.7 million crowns at its disposal.

If they do not return the money, the National Sports Agency will contact the tax office to collect it from the tennis association.

The police accuse five people, led by its president Ivo Kaderka, of fraud with state subsidies in the tennis association. Vojtěch Flégl, a member of the supervisory board of the union, is also in custody. Both face up to ten years in prison, they deny criminal activity.

The secretary of the union Jakub Fastr, the head of the economic department Hana Baierová and former elite doubles player Daniel Vacek, who trains the Davis Cup representative Tomáš Macháč, are being prosecuted.

The current situation and the potential dismissal of Kaderka will be discussed at the extraordinary general meeting of the union on June 7.
