The solemn ceremony of welcoming the torch of the 6th All-Armenian Summer Games took place at the entrance square of the Sardarapat Memorial Complex. This torch was lit in the Church of the Holy Cross on the Aghtamar Island of Lake Vana and, passing through the Armenian Javakhk, was taken to Gyumri, then along the banks of the Akhuryan and Araks rivers to Sardarapat. This was reported by the press service of the Pan-Armenian Games World Committee.

Simon Martirosyan, weightlifter, champion of the second Youth Olympic Games, record holder, member of the Armenian weightlifting team, brought the torch to the square.

The event was attended by the governor of Armavir Ashot Ghahramanyan, the leader of the spiritual diocese of Armavir of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Bishop Ter Sion Adamyan, the mayor of Armavir Ruben Khlghatyan, the mayor of Etchmiadzin Karen Grigoryan, members of the executive committee of the Pan-Armenian Games World Committee Manuk Shekerdemyan, Perch Halajyan, Sepuh Paghtoyan, employees of the regional administration, many citizens and guests.

Bishop Ter Sion Adamyan, leader of the spiritual diocese of Armavir of the Armenian Apostolic Church addressed the participants and guests of the event with a word of blessing.

Armavir Marz Governor Ashot Ghahramanyan congratulated the attendees on welcoming the torch and noted the following. “The fact that the Pan-Armenian Games confirmed their place and role in our lives is no longer a fact. It is also a fact that the games are the biggest practical link between homeland-diaspora relations, a real sports festival that unites and brings thousands of Armenian youth from different corners of the world to the homeland.”

At the end of the event, the people of Armavir wished the torch a good journey, which went to the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin to receive the blessing of His Holiness the Patriarch.
