Obviously, the tourism sector has stopped, there are obligations to restore it. It is important to carry out interventions aimed at both conservation and development in the field of tourism, institutional reforms are made, Mekhak Apresyan, president of the Armenian Federation of Tourism, told reporters, adding that the sector is not only possible, but also necessary to be saved.

Referring to the project to make licensing mandatory for many types of activities in the tourism sector, the speaker noted that even before there were many active discussions and opinions that licensing could introduce restrictions in the tourism sector.

“But the time has come, because licensing is not an end in itself,” Mehak Apresyan said.

According to him, even before the revolution, during the discussions with the government, it was clear that private companies would be against licensing, but now it is better to think about benefiting the industry rather than adding a burden to private companies.

“That “burden” is a salvation for the competitive environment of the tourism sector and is a very important condition for ensuring sustainable development of the sector, now the decision is being adopted. Let’s hope that this will happen in the very near future and we will start the process,” said the official of the sector.

According to him, as soon as this decision is adopted, the shadows of the sector will be minimized and interesting fiscal mechanisms will be applied.
