The investigators of the Central Unit (YMR) of the Central District of the Police, who are conducting the investigation into the tragic disaster, will bring the two to court tomorrow to request an extension of the house arrest for the purposes of completing the investigation. The police asked to extend the couple’s detention by about a week for fear of disrupting the investigation, but the judge accepted the request of their lawyer, Zion Amir. The two are charged with the offenses of causing death by negligence, running a business without a license and the prohibition of money laundering.
During the hearing, the police investigator said that “this is a difficult and tragic incident in which a person lost his life in a place that was managed without a permit. The suspects have a great contribution by not taking care of obtaining permits and obtaining a license. The suspect has a conviction for building without a permit from 1997 and the investigating unit will check if there is a connection between the conviction prior to the aforementioned event”.
The judge justified her decision: “The two suspects were arrested yesterday on suspicion of causing death by negligence. This is a serious incident with tragic results, when during an event that took place in the pool in the yard of their house, a sinkhole opened and a young man lost his life. The investigating unit claims negligence due to the lack of permits. Of course, I do not intend to determine Rivets regarding the seriousness of the suspicion against either of the two, if there is a reasonable suspicion of construction without a permit. This is a pool that was built 20 years ago. This is a normative couple, under these circumstances there is no perceived danger from them. At the same time, their unconditional release could lead to the disruption of some of the investigation.
