The UK government will allocate £117 million (approximately $150 million) to protect Muslim communities amid rising Islamophobia in the country.

As Day.Az reports with reference to Interfax, this is reported by the English media.

“We will not allow events in the Middle East to be used as an excuse to justify abuses against British Muslims,” Home Secretary James Cleverley said in a statement.

It is noted that the British government will allocate £117 million over the next four years.

The new funding will be used to protect mosques, Muslim religious schools and other community centers, Cleverly said. The minister clarified that the money will be spent on security measures, which include alarms, fences and CCTV cameras.

The UK Home Office chief added that “anti-Muslim hatred has absolutely no place in our society.”
