This authority has ascribed to itself the right to make mistakes and bring disasters all the time. we have to stop this. How can we do this so that we don’t start a war in the meantime?
If you speak against the “peace treaty”, no one will understand: not your people, not your neighbors, not the mediators, the Russians and the West.
If you speak in favor, you are going to conscious defeat.
The idea of a more serious peace treaty has the antidote to these risks. The united opposition of Armenia must declare that it is the continuation of the peace negotiation process and stands for the position of making all the controversial issues a negotiation agenda.
This concept was once applied, no matter how surprising it seems today, by Heydar Aliyev, the father of today’s president of Azerbaijan, who put forward the following idea during his presidency. let’s find a solution so that many generations to come will not have to deal with these issues anymore. It was very difficult to object to this, and it gave Azerbaijan time and opportunity.
We have to do the same now, we have no other way, but the government from the street does not understand such things, and the opposition is not even formulated at the moment.
Let’s fix all the difficult issues, find solutions, fix them in the contract and go for real, long-term peace. Let’s also note that all those states that encourage us to worsen relations with Russia are deepening their relations with Azerbaijan. Only getting out of this trap creates a new tactical reality. We must find the option to make the regional states part of the peace treaty to a greater or lesser extent. Now it is already in our interest to actively design the new Caucasian architecture.
A more serious peace treaty should include all the existing issues (first of all, the return of the Armenians of Artsakh, ensuring a peaceful and guaranteed safe life), a parallel process should be the intensive deep cooperation with BRICS, who have come to our neighbor. We must propose a contract that is not about our defeat, but about stable peace and open communication in the region, about a new quality of the South Caucasus with all its neighbors.
