American authorities are not yet preparing new large aid packages for Ukraine comparable to the one signed by US President Joe Biden earlier this week. Assistant to the US President for National Security Jake Sullivan told a group of American journalists on Thursday at the White House, Day.Az reports with reference to TASS.
“There are no such plans. I think it would be premature to start speculating or predicting additional requests [в адрес Конгресса о помощи Киеву] against the backdrop of persistent efforts to pass this bill,” the online publication Breaking Defense quoted him as saying.
According to Sullivan, the United States plans to focus on ensuring that assistance within the framework of the already adopted package is effective. He added that “something completely non-linear” could happen during the conflict in Ukraine, which could require the adoption of “additional funding bills.” “But in no case do I expect such a development of events; we do not foresee this and do not make plans, because we have planned [текущий законопроект] in such a way that it allows us to provide support,” the presidential aide emphasized.
According to his assessment, the aid package allocated to Kyiv in the amount of $61 billion will be enough “at least until the end of this year.”
On April 24, US President Joe Biden signed bills previously approved by the US Congress to resume arms supplies to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan totaling $95 billion. After the signing of the documents, the Pentagon announced that it was sending Ukraine weapons and equipment worth $1 billion.
