According to the results of voting in the US House of Representatives, a fourth bill was passed, which provides for tougher sanctions against Iran and the terrorist group Hamas. This step, according to experts, is one of the most significant sanctions measures against Iran adopted by Congress in recent years.
According to information provided by CNN, bill No. 8038, in particular, is aimed at confiscating Russian assets and transferring them to Ukraine. It also contains provisions aimed at strengthening sanctions against Iran, including restrictions on ports and refineries that receive and process Iranian oil. The measures also include sanctions against those involved in activities covered by the UN missile embargo against Iran, as well as suppliers and sellers of Iranian missiles and drones.
Additionally, the bill provides for sanctions against Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad and other Palestinian terrorist groups.
In parallel with the approval of this bill, the House of Representatives also voted on other important initiatives, including assistance to Ukraine, Taiwan and Israel. In particular, a bill on spending on military and financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of $60.84 billion was approved. The move is expected to be considered in the Senate and then signed by US President Joe Biden.
