The American NBC News reported tonight (Friday) that senior White House officials claimed that Russia is supplying an “unprecedented amount” of military equipment to Iran in return for Tehran supplying weapons for the war in Ukraine.

According to the report, as part of the partnership between the countries, Russia supplies Iran with advanced military equipment and components, including helicopters and air defense systems, while Iran supplies drones to Russia for use in fighting in Ukraine.

It was also reported that last spring, Iranian pilots trained in Russia to fly the Russian Sukhoi Su-35 fighter jet, which, according to White House officials, it seems that Iran may start receiving the model of the plane as early as next year.

“This partnership is a threat not only to Ukraine, but to Iran’s neighbors in the region,” said a senior US administration official, “we shared this information with our allies in the Middle East and around the world.”

In addition, the Biden administration named three entities in Russia that were involved in the transfer of Iranian unmanned aerial vehicles for use in Ukraine. Among the entities listed are the Russian aviation and space units, which received the drones, and the Russian National Center for Unmanned Aviation. According to the report, staff members from this center even traveled to Iran to receive training on how to operate the Iranian drones.
