Sputnik reported, CENTCOM confirmed that The US has conducted air strikes in Syria and Iraqattacking “Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Quds Force and pro-Tehran militia groups”.

According to the statement, the attack hit 85 targets and used 125 types of precision munitions from “multiple aircraft”, including long-range bombers. Western media quoted an unnamed official as saying that B-1 bombers were used in the airstrike.

“At 4:00 p.m. on February 2 (local time), CENTCOM forces conducted operations air raid targeting the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and related militia groups in Iraq and Syria,” the US Central Command said on social networks.

Targets attacked include “operations centers, intelligence centers, missiles, drone depots, logistics and ammunition supply chain facilities” belonging to armed groups and forces IRGC.

On February 1, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said there could be more attacks in the coming days.

The airstrike was in response to a previous drone attack on a US base in Jordan, killing three US soldiers and injuring dozens of others.

US President Joe Biden said the attack was carried out by extremist gunmen backed by Iran, while many US politicians blamed Tehran directly.

President Biden vowed to respond to the attack. “We will force all those responsible to pay the price when and in the way we choose,” Mr. Biden emphasized.
