Eight absolute winners and more than twenty champions by class is the balance of the 20th New Year’s Regatta, Kim Lythgoe Memorial, the last regatta of the year 2023 that has come to an end this Saturday, December 30, with a last day in white due to the absence of conditions in the Cadiz bay. The absence of wind has marked the three days of racing from beginning to end, to the point of leaving the iQFOil class deserted, and with a single test the ILCA 4 and the Raceboard and Techno boards, only the ILCA 7, ILCA 6 and the 420 have been able to scratch two. As there are no tests in the iQFOil class, there are also no winners of the Kim Lythgoe Memorial, which is deserted for the first time in its fifteen-year history.

In ILCA 4, Lucas Martín from RC El Candado wins the absolute and Under 16, category in which second and third place go to Álvaro Vivas from RC Mediterráneo and José Manuel Martín from CNM Benalmádena. Among the Under 16 girls, the winner is Alejandra Fresneda from CM Almería, also with a double, and she is accompanied on the podium by Laura Luna from CNM Benalmádena and María de la Corte from RCN de La Línea. In ILCA 6, the winners are Marta Franco from Cádiz from CN Elcano, first absolute and female, escorted on this podium by Valeria García from CM Almería and Paula Ruz from RC Mediterráneo, the three members of the educational and sports excellence program (CEEDA) of the Junta de Andalucía, which takes place at the Bahía de Cádiz Specialized Sports Technique Center for Sailing. Among the boys, Eduardo Orihuela from CN Sevilla wins, second behind Franco, followed by Luis García from RC Mediterráneo, third overall, and Iván Vides from RCMT Punta Umbría.

In the 420 class, the tiebreaker after two tests in favor of the crew of Josete Ruiz and Carlos Flethes is final and the title goes to the crew of the CN Puerto Sherry.

In the Techno classes, in Sub 17, the men’s podium has Daniel de la Serna from CNM Benalmádena at the top, followed by Ángel Escudero and Max González, both from RCN de Valencia, while among the girls the windsurfer from RCN de Torrevieja, Adriana Bernabé, wins over the CN Puerto Sherry sailor, Encarnación Román. Without a female podium, in Under 15 all the protagonism goes to Curro Sinbad Llorca (San Isidoro/CN Sevilla), absolute champion, and in Under 13 the winners are Jorge Brotons from Torrevieja over Daniel Dorronsoro from CNM Benalmádena among the boys, and the young Olivia Sánchez from the CN Sevilla on Anna Marante from the CN Puerto Sherry and Ángela Díaz from the CNM of Benalmádena.
