Broken frames
This decision follows numerous testimonies of broken frames and an investigation by the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA). This risk should not be taken lightly since it is generally young children who are placed in the crate.
“Babboe has received a large number of reports of broken frames in recent years. The company did not follow up on these reports or notify the NVWA as required by law,” the authority explains.
For its part, the brand indicated on its website: “As a precautionary measure, Babboe has decided to temporarily stop the sale of all cargo bikes (…). In the meantime, we will follow the advice of the NVWA not to use Babboe cargo bikes.”
