On September 14, 2007, living in Doncaster, North England, 14 years old Andrew Gosden he didn’t go to school, instead he took £200 from a machine, got on a train to London, arrived at King’s Cross station and was never seen again. Dubbed one of the most mysterious British disappearance cases of recent times, Gosden has never been found despite a massive national and international manhunt.
In the years that followed, his family put forward various theories, such as Andrew traveling to the capital for sightseeing to see a band he liked perform in the city, or even handing out CVs (as his older sister had previously done) – but none of these theories have been substantiated.
Police also investigated whether Andrew may have traveled to the capital to meet a friend online, but this theory was later dismissed after authorities learned that Andrew had no email address, access to his PSP and with an online account linked to your Xbox. Police appeared to have a clue in 2022 when they arrested two men on charges of kidnapping and human trafficking. However, they were later found to have no connection to Andrew’s case and were released.
Andrew’s parents, Kevin and Glenys (pictured above) never gave up hope of finding their son, and the couple recently betrayed himthat after seventeen years their room will finally be renovated.
It’s been 17 years since Andrew disappeared. For various reasons, my wife Glenys and I are renovating our Victorian mid terrace. A well-meaning friend of ours recently told us that it would be nice to feel like we could “move on” by including Andrew’s old room in this process.
Kevin wrote in a blog post. But he also added:
In the case of a missing loved one, it is impossible to move on: we simply find ourselves another year later, and we have no idea where or why he went that day, let alone where he might be now, even if he is alive.
