Cricket, which started as Test matches a century ago, has evolved into ODI matches to attract fans and today has seen rapid growth as T20 matches according to the pace of the modern world. Like the development of time, the game of cricket has gone through various evolutions over the years and entertained the fans. It is usually the duty of the umpires to stand as a balance of justice and give the important decisions which can decide the victory in the critical moments in cricket and not in favor of either team. However, they are human beings and it is common for them to give wrong results at times.
But for that some umpires made a habit of deliberately giving inconsistent results. Especially Steve Buckner from West Indies, if you look at India, he deliberately gave wrong results and ruined many victories. Similarly, it can be said that Sachin Tendulkar would have missed at least 10 – 15 centuries as umpires like him gave wrong judgment at many times when they were in 90 runs. To put an end to all this, the DRS rule was introduced to review the unsatisfactory judgments issued by the slips using technology.

Because of that nowadays most of the times the right decisions are made but even now at some moments wrong decisions are made which fool the players and the fans. More than that, the 3rd umpire giving the same decision (umpire’s call) has been raised by the 3rd umpire, who has already given the same decision (umpire’s call) if the ball rubs slightly against the stump without hitting the ball completely in the ball tracking technology during the lbw review.
More than 75% part of the ball was missing the stumps and still, an umpires call.

Legend Sachin Tendulkar has said that as far as he is concerned, the ball should be given out at the stumps while it is positive at some moments and at some moments negative. He also questioned why you are reflecting the decision of the on-field umpire just because the ball rubs, especially if you use technology without trusting the umpire at that time. This is what he said in a recent interview where he asked us to follow technology in the same way in this matter as we believe in technology and not in arbiter.

“Had TRS existed in my time I would have definitely reconsidered some of the judgments passed against me. Definitely love the recap rule as it was too much to give up. Some of them may be good for you and some bad for you. We are just pointing out the technology. But it’s not stupid and humans are too. There were many glaring blunders before the DRS regulation. Because of those mistakes a 3rd arbiter was created to decide the victory or defeat.”
“At that point I absolutely refuse to accept the current format. That means maybe if the ball hits the stumps (rubbing) it is out. Otherwise the batsman can continue to bat. And if the batsman or bowler feels that the umpire’s decision from the field is not satisfactory then they seek the 3rd umpire.”

“But then again why are you giving the decision given by the on-field referee? Perhaps if you believe in technology, keep going the same way. But I can’t accept leaving it at that and making a decision by mixing the two,” he said.
