The government adopted a decision by which it will be possible to solve the problem of procuring the excess quantity of the 2023 grape harvest.
The risks related to the current liquidity of finished products of winemaking organizations will be mitigated due to the devaluation of the Armenian dram, the organizations carrying out grape procurement will have the opportunity to attract the necessary additional financial resources on affordable terms, to respond to the changing conditions of demand, to face external challenges and to continue normal activities.
For the purchase of brandy spirit, it will be necessary to provide “Hay-Almast” CJSC with a budget loan of 2.0 billion drams (the basis for the calculation is the average customs value of brandy spirit exported in the six months of 2023 of USD 4.88 and further storage and examinations the cost estimate), which is a refundable amount, and the amount needed to subsidize economic entities that procure grapes from 6,000 tons to 9,000 tons inclusive and 15,000 tons and more is estimated at around 2.0 billion drams.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan admits that there are big problems related to increasing the efficiency of agriculture.
“We must be able to solve the problems, we cannot solve the problem just by giving money,” he said.
According to the Prime Minister, they are doing an operation with zero OGG.
“What new knowledge do we give, what new motivation do we give, what new value do we bring to the country…we fall into the same cycles again, this is a problem,” he said.
