Minister of Planning Mohammed Ali Tamim confirmed today, Thursday, that there are no obstacles preventing the population census from being conducted, while indicating that it will be implemented on the scheduled date.

A statement by the ministry, received by the (INA), stated that “Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning, Mohammed Ali Tamim, chaired an important meeting of the Supreme Commission for Population Census.”
According to the statement, Tamim confirmed that “the general population and housing census will be conducted in all Iraqi governorates on November 20 and 21, and there will be a curfew,” indicating that “the general population and housing census will be implemented electronically and will be the last census that Iraq will witness, because we will be faced with a huge database that covers all aspects of life and the characteristics of the population, social and economic.”
He pointed out that “the results of the general population and housing census will appear within a few hours with high accuracy and reliability, as a result of the use of modern and advanced technologies in conducting the census,” noting: “We have provided (120) thousand tablets from reliable international manufacturers, with high specifications, and they will be used by state institutions after the census is completed.”
He pointed out that “there are great efforts being made by ministries, entities not affiliated with a ministry, and governorates to support the general population census,” explaining that “the Council of Ministers has taken a package of important decisions in order to provide the best conditions for conducting the population census and ensuring its success.”
He stressed that “there are no political obstacles preventing the population census from being conducted,” noting that “there is high-level coordination with the Kurdistan Regional Government regarding conducting the census on its scheduled date of 11-20-2024.”
According to the statement, the Minister appreciated “the role of the House of Representatives and the Parliamentary Strategic Planning Committee in supporting the efforts of the Ministry of Planning to conduct the population census,” calling on honorable families “to cooperate with the enumerators in the numbering and enumeration phase, which began in all governorates on 9/1/2024 and ends on 10/30/2024.”
He continued: “We have prepared a special plan to conduct the population census in difficult and remote areas, appreciating the role and efforts of the Ministry of Education in preparing the cadres who will conduct the numbering, enumeration and population census operations.”
He continued: “We will have 120,000 field researchers to conduct the general population and housing census,” stressing, “We are completely confident that the general population and housing census will be conducted on the scheduled date of 11-20-2024, after we have prepared all the requirements and provided all the requirements. We have established an advanced data center, and another for communications, with the provision of satellite images, and very advanced technologies and software.”
He called on all media outlets to “support the general population census project, as it represents a national project and benefits all segments of society.”
