A new team for Doron Leidner: Olympiakos and Austria Vienna agreed this morning on the loan of the left defender, who landed today in Antalya and signed until the end of the season with the Austrian team. Leidner is accompanied by his agent Idan Ben Abu.
Leidner was also in demand in Lask Linz and Rapid Vienna, but there were various problems in the last two days that were resolved this morning and the defender of the Israel national team will have his first practice with the team where he will hope to get minutes after not playing in Olympiakos since the beginning of the season.
As you know, in the squad of Austria Vienna is also the defender Matan Baltexa who came with the team to Israel this season when they met Hapoel Be’er Sheva and were defeated 4:0 in Israel as part of the Conference League. Austria Vienna is placed seventh in the country after 16 rounds.
The 20-year-old Leidner was purchased by Olympiakos in the summer for about 2 million euros, but has not made an official appearance in the uniform of the senior team since arriving from Hapoel Tel Aviv. He could not register for the league at all because of complications surrounding the Romanian passport and only took part in the reserve team games.
The defender managed to appear six times in the uniform of the Israeli national team, when in the Nations League he took a place in the team and excelled with the equalizing goal for Shaun Weissman in the 2:2 at home against Iceland and an assist for Manor Solomon in the 1:2 victory in Albania.
